About The Band
Leon Gray, better known as The Gray Lion, has pulled together a supergroup of “super unknowns,” rising straight out of underground music scenes across the country. The Mine Fires strike with raw energy, blistering performances, and melodies that linger long after the amps go quiet.
Refusing to be boxed into a single genre, their music fuses grit, soul, and hidden sparks, creating a live experience that leaves audiences shaken, exhilarated, and hungry for more.
The name The Mine Fires traces back to Leon’s childhood in Pennsylvania, where he roamed the woods and stumbled upon smoldering hills of ash — remnants of coal mines burning deep beneath the earth. That haunting image of hidden fire became the spark behind the band’s creation.
The Mine Fires is more than a name. Just as coal fires smoldered unseen in Leon’s hometown, the band’s members once burned within America’s underground music scene. Leon unearthed them, and together they’ve ignited something impossible to contain.
